1. Driving Requirements.
1a. You must be of legal age to drive the vehicle and produce a valid UK/Northern Ireland provisional Category B driving licence. For any Motorway, Pass Plus or Refresher lessons a full valid driving licence must be produced along with identification as above.
1b. You must meet the minimum eye test requirements, which means you must be able to read a standard UK approved number plate at a minimum distance of 20.5 metres (67 feet). If you need to wear glasses or contact lenses in order to meet this requirement then you must wear them whenever you drive.
1c. It is your responsibility to notify your driving instructor of any change in your ability or entitlement to have driving tuition, or for example if your provisional licence has been revoked or for medical reasons such as epilepsy.
1d. You must not be under the influence of drugs/alcohol during the training. In the event of there being any signs of drugs/alcohol misuse, your instructor will withhold the use of the training vehicle for use of tuition or driving test until you are in a legal and fit state to drive. Any prescribed medication that may effect your driving should be declared to the instructor and to the DVLA medical board. Failure to adhere to this will result in the lessons being cancelled and it may still be chargeable.
1e. Should you fail to reach a satisfactory standard of driving and are likely to be a danger to other road users, or are in an unfit condition through substance or alcohol abuse as described above, the ADI has a responsibility to the DVSA examiners not to allow the use of the training vehicle for the purpose of the driving test. This is in the interest of the pupil, the examiner and other road users and is a precautionary safety measure. Driving Standards Agency guidelines do not allow for a pupil to take a practical test just for the experience.
1f. You must be wearing appropriate clothing and footwear suitable for driving. Driving lessons can't go ahead in open toe sandals or flip flops due to risk of them being caught on the pedals.
2. Cancellation.
2a. If you need to cancel a lesson, a minimum of 48 hours notice must be given. Failure to give 48 hours notice will result in the lesson(s) having to be paid for. Lessons can be cancelled by telephone or text message but must be acknowledged by your instructor.
2b. Should lessons continue to be cancelled by you and/or rescheduled repeatedly, your instructor reserves the right to charge for the lesson as though it went ahead.
2c. If your instructor turns up on time at the pre-arranged pick up point and you fail to attend, there is a grace period of ten minutes. If there is no contact made during this time, they will then leave and the lesson will still be chargeable.
2d. Your instructor will endeavour to arrive on time. However, due to unforeseen circumstances such as breakdown, accidents, test bookings, traffic hold ups etc, lesson times may need to change or even be cancelled. If cancelled by your Instructor, no fee will be charged.
2e. No responsibility can be taken for tests cancelled by the DVSA for whatever reason. Lessons will still have to be paid for. The instructor cannot be responsible if you fail because of the eyesight test. Your instructor will be responsible if the test is cancelled due to the condition of the tuition vehicle.
3. Driving Lesson Payments.
3a. Driving lessons can be paid by cash, or bank transfer.
3b. All lessons must be paid prior to commencing the lesson unless otherwise agreed to.
3c. Lessons should be paid for in advance or at the time of the lesson by cash or bank transfer. Any lessons not paid for can't be secured on the diary and may be given to another Client.
4. Courses & Test Bookings
4a. Failure to adhere to this will result in the lessons being cancelled but still chargeable.
4c. On our courses which include a driving test we reserve the right to withhold the use of our vehicle for the test if in our opinion you are not ready to sit the test, should this be the case we will try to avoid the loss of any test fees.
4d. On any other courses which include a driving test, the test is booked on the condition that you have reached the expected standard for the test. Should you not be at an acceptable standard then the driving test should be rescheduled for a later date.
5. Tuition Vehicle
5a. Please remember that the tuition vehicle needs to be treated in a respectable manner. Any harm/damage caused to the vehicle, if deemed as an irresponsible action by the instructor, could be subject to charge.
5b. Should you wish to have a lesson in another car then this can only be done with the agreement of the driving instructor in advance and the driving instructor will not be liable for any risk or damage to the chosen vehicle during the lesson.
5c. Should you wish to have a lesson or request the instructor to attend with you on a driving test in another vehicle, it is your responsibility to make sure the vehicle is safe, road legal in compliance with the DVSA guidelines.
